Welcome Susie!
Hi, I'm Susi, and I can usually be found over at Arcadian Lighting, writing about dÈcor, light fixtures and lighting ideas. I'm so happy to be visiting The Painted Blackbird today as a guest blogger. I was asked to write about colorful and fun Mexicana, which is so appropriate given the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead has just past. Finding inspiration for colorful and fun Mexicana was easy and so much fun. Hope you enjoy!
Mexicana style is all about riots of contrasting bright color. I love the patterns and colors flowing between these rooms. So fun!
Mexican pottery is a wonderful way to introduce the colors and lively patterns of Mexicana style into any dÈcor. It's great on a shelf or table in the kitchen.
Mexicana's colors, patterns and star pendant light create a fun dÈcor scheme in this kitchen. A pink fridge is fun if not a bit kitchy in this colorful space.
Multi-colored chairs make for a fun table in this Mexicana style dining room. Brightly hued pottery on the shelves completes the colorful tableau.
Embroidered Mexicana pillows can bring a bit of fun and color to neutral dÈcor and furnishings. A pile of these would look amazing on a white sofa or white bed.
This colorful pillow is made from a traditional Mexican textile made by Otami women. I love the colorful embroidery of whimsical creatures and shapes.
Mexicana-style blankets add vibrant color to this bed. Lively Mexicana textile pillows and accessories, including the amazing little bedside lamp, make the room fun and out of the ordinary.
Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead offers great inspiration for fun and colorful Mexicana dÈcor. Consider incorporating key design elements like roses, flowers, skulls and hearts into your Mexicana dÈcor.

I like the vibrancy of Mexican colours. Have recently been on a textile tour of Rajasthan, India. Amazing....
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting guest blogger! Love all that color!!
ReplyDeleteI love that little bedside lamp in the last picture in this post. Where in the world could I find something like that for my house? All of the textiles and paint colors are vibrant and interesting too. If I wanted to try this kind of look, where would I need to start - paint the walls, or add some textiles to my more neutral room?
