DAY 4 MINT GIVEAWAY

On the fourth day of  Giveaway - MINT. I first coveted many an item from Kirsty's retired goods company when it was the store at The Corner Café. However my absolute addiction began when the first RSS feed popped into my mailbox at 7am when MINT went online. I don't dare miss the 8am or 9am either - yikes, it's better than coffee!

I am an ardent follower of thrifting and upcycling, I am a trawler of pokey second hand stores, white elephant church bazaars, charity shops, antique fairs and pawn dives. The fuller, dustier, crammed with trinkets, musty embroidered Chinese jackets, large ceramic dogs, brooches, snow globes, Tretchi's, salt and pepper shakers and the holy grail of all things rusty - enamelware - the better! Kirsty is a lady after my heart, there is no doubt about that! My favourite piece of enamelware EVER was bought with shaky fast typing from MINT online. It is a beaut vessel that was the highlight of Swan's birthday table.

Our most recent acquisition is a beautiful old municipal bench, aged to perfect silvery grey, it has pride of place on our front stoop and we sit there watching the dogs play. The above image is from MINT.

The joy of MINT is that it includes retro showpieces as well as kitchenalia and furniture that slots seamlessly into a contemporary interior. I would love to take a peek into the homes of some of Kirsty's customers as they are a bunch of peeps with brave style, fast typing skills and impeccable taste. Call it New Scandinavian or Mid Century Design, it is a style particular to South Africa as much as to colder further climes.

Jars, Mirrors, Lights, Clocks, Crockery, Cookware, vintage Garden and Children's wares - what is not to LOVE! There is actually not enough space on this post to fit enough of MINT awesomeness.

Today's Giveaway are 12 captivating metal jelly moulds. I have a set of the delightful bunnies myself and the detail on them is wonderful. Given the movement towards the celebration of traditional craft and people discovering the joy of their grandmothers kitchen techniques and the sheer fun of entertaining the old fashioned way these little darlings would sit so prettily in your glass fronted pantry dresser. Greengage or Cherry for me please!

  7. Kim - thank you kindly! I think Kirsty will have to round up all her followers and get some photos of the MINT pieces in their homes and make a lovely book!

  9. Hey misskim, thanks so much for the lovely blog post! I had a bit of a giggle when I saw Kim C's comment - the two Kims often go after the same items on Mint. I've always thought it quite funny that you had such similar taste -and now you meet here in cyberspace! Be nice to each other ladies :)
