WAVESCAPE 2013 BOARD LOVE I

Here is a sneak peek at my design for this years WAVESCAPE Art Auction, THE BLACKBIRD. The beautiful board was shaped by DUTCHIE and is called the SHRED STICK. Will have some more info on the board itself and a list of the other artists who are taking part later.

I am a huge fan of paper cutting as an illustrative technique, I like the pattern and a slightly macabre edge no matter the subject. ELSA MORA is a wonderful artist with an interesting life story. She has an amazing blog which you must visit because she links to many other fantastic makers.

LUCY KIRK LOVE

LUCY KIRK is awesome! She is also an illustrator, model maker and farmers daughter. One half of POP, based on a farm in Nottingham England. This is her series SHOWGIRLS. Have a look at all the links, her drawings are wonderful and witty and wicked.

Saw a beautiful photo on MISS MOSS from her recent honeymoon to NYC of a glass demijohn bottle containing a plant with suspended roots. I must be the last person on earth to put two and two together with this lovely trend. The odds of owning a vintage one of these beauties is nigh on impossible as they range in price on ebay from a minimum of R1 000 up to R7 000.
So if you have one, guard it with your life! Will have to do a antique shop trawl.
Demijohns are handblown glass bottles used to store wine or fruit brandy. They used to be wrapped in rattan or wicker to protect the contents and prevent breakage. Range of sea glass greens.

MESSY STUDIO LETTERS

The herculean task of installing the metal letters onto the mosaic splash back has begun. But as you can see from the dull image we were struck by the relentless rain and had to call a halt. The weather is gorgeous today, so Victor should be able to, fingers crossed, get most of it done today.

 

ROCKET LAMP LOVE

RETRO PRINT REVIVAL make these awesome Rocket Lamps, I am craving the banana leaf one for the MESSY STUDIO but they are made in Oz and in Oz dollars so waaaaay out of my budget. I love the prints they use for their shades and the styling of their shots. Nice one!

VAMP MIRROR LOVE

This gorgeous mirror is on it's way from VAMP to take up residence in the MESSY STUDIO bathroom. They are designed by Michael Dodds, have wood as a backing and retro style chrome fittings. See the rest of the range HERE.
